Gewoon een goede reisgids

Mijn voorkeur voor een regionale reisgids in Groot-Brittannië. Want deze gids is wat je verwacht van een goede reisgids: praktische algemene info en goede beschrijvingen van bezienswaardigheden, horeca en accommodaties, verdeeld over 9 hoofdstukken. Aangevuld met detailkaartjes en een beperkte hoeveelheid foto’s. Verwacht in deze Rough Guide overigens geen beschrijvingen van wandelingen of reisroutes. Je kunt er zelf mee aan de slag vanuit een blanco startpunt. Wil je meer houvast of wil je niet teveel moeite doen, koop dan een andere reisgids zoals Capitool Zuid Engeland of een soort Time to momo (er is overigens geen T.t.m. van Kent, Sussex en Surrey). Ten opzichte van de Rough Guide voor heel Engeland, is deze regionale gids de meerprijs (als je anders diverse regionale gidsen zou moeten kopen) wat mij betreft wel waard. Daarnaast is zo’n regionale gids gedetailleerder en overzichtelijker, omdat de regio weer opgedeeld wordt in diverse gebieden. Zoek je info over een bepaalde streek, dan vind je die hier makkelijker dan in de overzichtsgids voor heel Engeland. De service van de Zwerver was weer prima.
